Founder of Blacktrekking.com, Stephanie Claytor, speaks to “Daytime TV” about her experience as an English Teaching Assistant in Bogota, Colombia through the Fulbright program.

The program, along with her experience studying abroad in the Dominican Republic, inspired her to write the travel memoir, “Blacktrekking: My Journey Living in Latin America,” which is available on Amazon.

Claytor also spoke about her experience to “Todo Tampa Bay,” a lifestyle newscast produced in Spanish.

The United States Fulbright Student Program is a cultural exchange program run by United States State Department. It is funded by federal tax dollars. The goal is to improve intercultural relations. The program includes the ability to be funded to conduct research abroad through a research grant or the ability to teach English abroad and receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses.

Applications for the 2025-2026 grant period begin on April 2. More than 2,200 Americans are offered Fulbrights each year. The Fulbright program also awards grants for foreigners to study in the United States.

To apply, you must be a United States citizen, have a bachelor’s degree, and it is preferable that you have not lived in the foreign country you’re applying for.
