About

Hi, my name is Stephanie Claytor.

I’m the founder of this blog. This is your go-to site for family travel inspiration. Follow us on Instagram, @Blacktrekking. We feature everything from fun, family-friendly destinations, to travel budgeting tips, to ways of making traveling with children a little easier.

I started this blog to share our family’s traveling experiences. My goal is to also highlight destinations that focus on Black History and Culture.

A little bit about me – I’m an Ohio native who worked as a television reporter for nearly a decade, covering the news in Iowa, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, and Florida. I now live in the Tampa Bay area with my husband, Corey, and our two children.

I fell in love with traveling when I was 10, during my first plane ride to California. Since then, I’ve become fluent in Spanish and have lived in three countries-the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and my homeland, the United States. I lived in Colombia while participating in the Fulbright Program. In all, I’ve visited 15 different countries, along with San Andres, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, and French Polynesia

I’ve been interviewed by reporters from The National Geographic, Huffington Post, Travel Noire, WFLA Channel 8, the Black News Channel, the Florida Sentinel, the Ledger, the Florida Courier, and the Twinsburg Bulletin.

I hope my blog inspires you to explore new places and try new things.
